For nearly 20 years, I have been on a tireless and obsessive mission to create the most fluid, free and dynamic, live-music-production workflow possible. It has seemed impossible at times, and I have tried many approaches. Hardware, software, bespoke, hard coded, modular, the lot. But I can now finally and proudly say that I have, with the help of some amazing developers, developed the most complete and freeing live production system ever developed. There were multiple UX, UI and DSP challenges in this very specific and demanding domain and I couldn't be happier or more excited to share this project with you. What is more, despite having jealously guarded this work for myself for years, I am now giving you the option to own it, adapt it, and become part of the community in my discord that will be using and maintaining it.

Downloads, support and tutorials will be coming for all existing Tech Tier Patreon members, and by signing to the tech tier, you can access the software and this awesome and active community. There will be updates in the form of a monthly download link to the latest versions of the requisite software.

The new Beardytron integrates Loopy Pro by A Tasty Pixel. I've been working hard with Michael from A Tasty Pixel and the incredible developer Karolis Gataveckas to bring the VST3 version of Loopy Pro up to the feature set and workflow capabilities my demanding realtime workflow requires, and I'm excited to say that all tech tier patrons will get free access to Loopy Pro VST3 whilst it is in beta.

Software Requirements:

TouchOSC (required if you want to use my touch screen template)

(for the full Beardytron, Ableton is required but for the looping component, any DAW capable of hosting VST3's will do fine. Much of the routing and effects chains are ableton specific but we have bitwig users in the community who will be building busily and may be willing to share their work also. )

Reason was never part of my live beatbox-based electronic music improvisation rig until now. Recently Reason Studios released their latest device, Objekt, a resonation-based modelling synthesiser. I’ve never come across anything that can do what it does. It’s amazing and since Reason was made available as an M1 native plugin it can live in the gigantic Ableton monster that is the Beardytron. And oh my god is it good. Expressive, deep, realistic, expansive, a truly beautiful instrument. With Objekt hosted in Reason Rack plugin, sound designers can give unparalleled expressibility to their synth sounds, escaping the tyranny of the "press note make sound" nature of digital synthesis. Now your voice, or indeed any source can augment the synthesizers excitation matrix and you can interact with this synth patch like an instrument you play with your voice or any other expressive input. LIVE from a Soviet Fishing Vessel

This was a special gig. The crew of MS Stubnitz are special people. They welcomed us, fed us and were generally wonderful. We partied with them after the show and we stayed in a cabin on the boat that night.  The history of this boat is fascinating. It's been traveling round the world, mooring in harbours and ports and holding raves in its hull. There is no vessel in its category from the 1960's still in active operation. It's previous life as a fishing trawler alone is notable, it's a piece of history and an honour to play on it, but it's recent history, fro its restoration to present day tracks the history of underground music. It was packed and I had a blast. Can't wait to return and play again soon. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it. xxx Yo. Become part of the team.
